After a trimester’s worth of hard work on musical modes and other scale forms, the Barracudas have a final blowout - Modal Mayhem. A festival-style concert, the event came complete with concert posters, MCs, band managers and music from the dorian, ionian, and phrygian modes. Small group requirements: a piece of music (covered or created) in the assigned mode; a concert poster featuring your band and the mode they utilized; an introduction explaining the mode and the music (and pumping up the crowd, of course); and a manager to sort it all out.

Hey new-to-Seabury families, did you know Seabury has it’s own theme song?! Listen up and practice for the next sing-along at Gathering (lyrics are on the youtube page).
Seabury’s music students began the school year with a difficult question: what is music? When asked to work in small groups to complete the sentence “music is…” the Barracudas came up with the following:
“Music is art.”
“Music is a way for some people to share their feelings.”
“Music is sound, beat, and time.”
The Wildcats had some similar ideas:
“Music is a way to express your feelings.”
“Music is a way of communicating with precise sound.”
“Music is the most spectacular awesome sound in the world!!!!”
“Music is a melodious sound.”
